Tracing their lineage to hounds owned and bred by George Washington, American Foxhounds were bred to chase, but not kill, a fox – as well as to work closely around horses, since they were used in horseback hunts. Their musical baying can carry for miles. The American Foxhound is the state dog of Virginia!
