RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK

The Ridgeback is virtually defined by its ridge, a stripe of backward growing hair on its back. In Africa, Ridgebacks are noted for their skill in tracking and holding lions at bay for hunters. They were also successful at fending off other dangerous animals, such as leopards and baboons, protecting horse-mounted hunters by traveling alongside them.
